For which networks Have you ever operated a node?
What kind of improvements would you like to see in Elixxir nodes vs. previous the previous nodes you have supported?
What are potential setbacks preventing you from operating an Elixxir node?
What is a reasonable maximum connection speed on which you could operate a BetaNet node in your geographic region? (Where 0 = 10 Megabits/second, and 100 = 10 Gigabits/second) 50
What is a reasonable uptime estimate you can provide for your BetaNet node? (As a percentage) 90
Please estimate the cost of electricity in the geographic area where your BetaNet node will be running. . Depends on location
On a monthly basis, how much time can you publicly commit to dedicating toward governance if you were selected as a BetaNet node operator? (Where 0 = 1 hour/month, and 100 = 20 hours/month) 2
If you were selected to run a BetaNet node, would it run on your own hardware or be deployed to cloud-based servers? Cloud-Based Servers
In what type of environment would this server be located?
Do you have past experience deploying hardware servers in a datacenter?
Do you already own sufficient hardware to meet the published Elixxir BetaNet node specifications?
Yes (Please list specs)
Do you have hardware you would like to use but does not meet the stated BetaNet node specs? If so, please provide specs on that hardware below:
Do you have past experience deploying servers to cloud-based services? No
Yes (please specify)
Why do you want to be a node? Optitoken is the first ever hyper-deflationary cryptocurrency. We buy back and burn our own tokens based on the profits generated by our trading algorithm. Next to our trading algorithm, we like to implement further income sources, which are more stable than our trading results. We think that beeing a node operator is a great way to fulfil our wants. Elixxir is a very promising project, we would like to be part of, in order to accomplish our above stated plans.
How did you originally hear about Elixxir? Word of Mouth
Which current Elixxir communities are you a member of? Telegram
Are you an active member of those communities? No
What specifically, interests you about the Elixxir platform? The network structure
Outside of Elixxir communities, are you an active participant in other node or developer community groups? If so, which ones? Not yet
Have you ever attended a blockchain conference? If so, which one(s)? I personally have attended some events, which included blockchain technology as one topic among others. Nevertheless other members of our team are attending pure blockchain events regularly, which are mainly based in Europe or Asia.
As part of growing the Elixxir community, are you willing to create content as part of operating an Elixxir BetaNet node? Examples would be node setup & on-boarding review vlog post, bi-weekly twitter update, medium review of on-going node operational process, etc. Yes (how much content on a monthly basis?)
If yes, how much content on a monthly basis? 1 Article each month
What is the difference between decentralized networks and distributed networks, and where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit? Participants of decentralised networks have influence on the whole network and node operators own a copy of the whole network. Participants of distributed networks only have influence on their share of the network and node operators only have a copy of their share. Our own network is not fully decentralised nor fully centralised, when looking at the whole range of criteria. It's difficult to quantify, if that's the question. Anyways we think the decentralisation of networks is a very big strength in most blockchain projects. We rate that criteria to be very important.
As best as you can given currently available information, please describe the value proposition of the Elixxir platform and how it differs from other current blockchain solutions. We like the randomised algorithm, which will be applied to control the cooperation of nodes the most. Furthermore we like the pre-computing of private key operations, as we think, that this can speed up the network performance a lot.
Privacy by Default is a goal of the Elixxir Platform. In your opinion, why is Privacy by Default critical for the future of the internet? The ongoing development towards IoT makes the data of each entity beeing more and more valuable, not only in prospect of the possibilities in the use of data, but also in prospect of the possibility of misusage of that data. Developments such as data mining and big data analysis are big steps towards creating completely transparent entities, which are classified by specific arguments. Transparency provides the potential of misusage by beeing known entirely by foreign entities. The dangers of that are various and should be clear I guess.
