Please describe your experience in the Crypto/Blockchain space, if any? I've been in the cryptocurrency space for since 2013. I have developed dapp applications and run nodes in the past. I have extensive technical experience as a software engineer as well as years of IT experience.

What kind of improvements would you like to see in Elixxir nodes vs. previous the previous nodes you have supported? Further integration of consensus based voting on the future feature development.
What are potential setbacks preventing you from operating an Elixxir node? None. I have years of experience and a significant amount of funds to engage in this endeavor.
What is a reasonable maximum connection speed on which you could operate a BetaNet node in your geographic region? (Where 0 = 10 Megabits/second, and 100 = 10 Gigabits/second) 70
What is a reasonable uptime estimate you can provide for your BetaNet node? (As a percentage) 99
Please estimate the cost of electricity in the geographic area where your BetaNet node will be running. . 20 cents per KWH (but i'd be running the server via a hosting provider)
On a monthly basis, how much time can you publicly commit to dedicating toward governance if you were selected as a BetaNet node operator? (Where 0 = 1 hour/month, and 100 = 20 hours/month) 72
If you were selected to run a BetaNet node, would it run on your own hardware or be deployed to cloud-based servers? Both
In what type of environment would this server be located? Datacenter
Do you have past experience deploying hardware servers in a datacenter? Yes (please describe)
Do you already own sufficient hardware to meet the published Elixxir BetaNet node specifications? Yes (Please list specs)
Yes (Please list specs) AMD EPYC 7551P, 64GB RAM (128GB if necessary), Nvidia RTX 2070, 2 x Samsung 860 Pro Series 2.5" 1TB, Gigabyte MZ31-AR0 Motherboard
Do you have hardware you would like to use but does not meet the stated BetaNet node specs? If so, please provide specs on that hardware below: No
Do you have past experience deploying servers to cloud-based services? Yes (please specify)
Yes (please specify) I have deployed several cloud based applications on AWS and Google Cloud. I have been using those two services for several years now.
Why do you want to be a node? I only host nodes for projects that I believe in. I believe in what Elixxir is trying to achieve both from a practical and philosophical level. Elixxir has the opportunity to provide privacy to a world where none exists.
How did you originally hear about Elixxir? Reddit
Which current Elixxir communities are you a member of? Telegram, Reddit
Are you an active member of those communities? Yes
What specifically, interests you about the Elixxir platform? I am very interested in the consensus algorithm that Elixxir uses and the benefits that provides both in terms of being decentralized and highly scalable.
Outside of Elixxir communities, are you an active participant in other node or developer community groups? If so, which ones? NULS, Substratum, GINCoin, Horizon
Have you ever attended a blockchain conference? If so, which one(s)? None, I'm from Hawaii so it's hard to get there physically.
As part of growing the Elixxir community, are you willing to create content as part of operating an Elixxir BetaNet node? Examples would be node setup & on-boarding review vlog post, bi-weekly twitter update, medium review of on-going node operational process, etc. Yes (how much content on a monthly basis?)
If yes, how much content on a monthly basis? I can do medium reviews and write online guides.
What is the difference between decentralized networks and distributed networks, and where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit? Decentralized networks tend to be distributed but distributed networks aren't always decentralized. In Decentralized networks there is no single point where a decision is made. Every node comes to it's own decision and the results are aggregated. Distributed networks mean processes are shared across multiple nodes but there can still be a centralized decision point. I think the algorithm should be decentralized enough that it ensures the network's privacy and durability but not so decentralized that it isn't scalable enough to use. It's important to find the happy medium between being decentralized and scalable. Ethereum is decentralized but scalability is an issue for most Dapps. EOS is not very decentralized but scalability is good enough that most Dapps embraced it (and tron).
As best as you can given currently available information, please describe the value proposition of the Elixxir platform and how it differs from other current blockchain solutions. Elixxir provides unparalleled levels of privacy which in and of itself is a huge value to individuals living in countries that are under constant surveillance. Applications built on the Elixxir platform will benefit from that immensely. Additionally the privacy aspect alone will be enough to attract users in countries like China and Russia. Other blockchain solutions don't put enough emphasis on privacy as a core aspect of their solution. The few that do require you to sacrifice on the applicability of the platform.
Privacy by Default is a goal of the Elixxir Platform. In your opinion, why is Privacy by Default critical for the future of the internet? The internet is becoming a scarier place with governments around the world ratcheting up their surveillance programs. Countries like China have already instituted dystopian "social credit" systems that monitor and regulate their citizen's behaviors and thoughts. Technology has evolved to a point where it is able to cause enormous damage to human rights and the privacy people "think" they have. Elixxir aims to restore some of that privacy. As it stands currently, everything we do, say, and search online is already monitored and recorded. Elixxir will provide an actual sense of security for the people who need it most.
