What is your occupation? IT
How many years experience in your field? 1-3
What is the highest degree or level of school you have completed? Bachelor’s degree (for example: BA. BS)
Please describe your experience in the Crypto/Blockchain space, if any? Hello, my first experience with blockchain was 2 years ago, i started to read technical whitepapers, news about crypto. Also I had experience in mining. I bought my first mining rig 1.5 years ago for zcash mining. My last mining experience was with mining Quarkchain. Also I set up nodes. Lto, Zilliqa were the last. I really enjoy blockchain technologies and always try something new in in blockchain sphere. That why I would like to take part and to help Elixxir to gain their goals
Are you an individual or a group? Individual
Node City Moscow
Node State
Node Country Russia
For which networks Have you ever operated a node? Tezos, LTO, Zilliqa
What kind of improvements would you like to see in Elixxir nodes vs. previous the previous nodes you have supported?
What are potential setbacks preventing you from operating an Elixxir node? I suppose that there are no setbacks, because I have good technical education, experience in operating nodes.
What is a reasonable maximum connection speed on which you could operate a BetaNet node in your geographic region? (Where 0 = 10 Megabits/second, and 100 = 10 Gigabits/second) 26
What is a reasonable uptime estimate you can provide for your BetaNet node? (As a percentage) 90
Please estimate the cost of electricity in the geographic area where your BetaNet node will be running. . 6 cents per kilowatt
On a monthly basis, how much time can you publicly commit to dedicating toward governance if you were selected as a BetaNet node operator? (Where 0 = 1 hour/month, and 100 = 20 hours/month) 46
If you were selected to run a BetaNet node, would it run on your own hardware or be deployed to cloud-based servers? Hardware
In what type of environment would this server be located? Personal Home
Do you have past experience deploying hardware servers in a datacenter? No
Do you already own sufficient hardware to meet the published Elixxir BetaNet node specifications? Yes (Please list specs)
Yes (Please list specs) I have mining rig with 6 Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 570 4 Gb. Also, I will buy more powerful graphic cards if I will be accepted by Elixxir team
Do you have hardware you would like to use but does not meet the stated BetaNet node specs? If so, please provide specs on that hardware below:
Do you have past experience deploying servers to cloud-based services? No
Yes (please specify)
Why do you want to be a node? First of all, I really enjoy crypto technologies, blockchain startups cause I want blockchain sphere to grow up, to help projects. Also I want to take part in the begining of their life. I enjoy to try new things, to learn more about crypto
How did you originally hear about Elixxir? Telegram
Which current Elixxir communities are you a member of? Telegram, Twitter
Are you an active member of those communities? Yes
What specifically, interests you about the Elixxir platform? I am a big fan of David Chaum works. He is the legendary person. I am sure that he has already made a lot for crypto. In elixxir platform i was impressed by mixing. A way to 'mask trails' on the routing-protocol layer and make it impossible to identify the supplier-receiver-transaction content connections. It is impossible to identify a transaction's participants even by analysing all of the blocks of the network. Besides, a brute-force attack is able to compromise only a single token and not all of the owner's assets.
Outside of Elixxir communities, are you an active participant in other node or developer community groups? If so, which ones? As i already mentioned, I set up LTO, Zilliqa modes in 2019
Have you ever attended a blockchain conference? If so, which one(s)?
As part of growing the Elixxir community, are you willing to create content as part of operating an Elixxir BetaNet node? Examples would be node setup & on-boarding review vlog post, bi-weekly twitter update, medium review of on-going node operational process, etc. Yes (how much content on a monthly basis?)
If yes, how much content on a monthly basis? It would be a pleasure to take part in creating content. I can easiliy translate some news, reports, manuals to Russian language
What is the difference between decentralized networks and distributed networks, and where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit? Decentralized means that there is no single point where the decision is made. Every node makes a decision for it’s own behaviour and the resulting system behaviour is the aggregate response. Distributed means that the processing is shared across multiple nodes, but the decisions may still be centralized and use complete system knowledge. I’d have to say decentralized, but it is arguable.
As best as you can given currently available information, please describe the value proposition of the Elixxir platform and how it differs from other current blockchain solutions. The Elixxir platform utilizes accelerated mix networks to ensure confidentiality, and the cMix Protocol works to dissociate the origin, contents, and destination of any message or payment transaction. In addition, Elixxir makes use of precomputations and secret based payment structures which revolve around handling static tokens and Hash Based Ownership to enable highly scalable private transactions. Elixxir is tasked with replacing current centralized systems, and the protocol design results in a high performance blockchain platform. There are a number of blockchain projects currently attempting to disrupt the world of digital payments and messaging including Status, Mainframe, Skrumble Network, Dusk, and Horizen. In the Elixxir protocol, groups of nodes are deterministically organized into teams. These teams are temporary, and exist only for the duration of the block they are responsible for generating. The team uses a unique consensus protocol to validate and authenticate operations that anonymize each encrypted message, independently agree to process all messages before decryption, and then independently decrypt and process each message. Following block generation, the team disbands and member nodes become available to be placed on a new random team. Their scaling system differs from sharding proposals and the lightning network as teams cannot influence the consensus mechanism’s integrity as all aspects of block production are independently predetermined in a verifiable and immutable manner. Furthermore, as token handling in most blockchain systems is currently wallet based. Elixxir stands out by using a token based system, where the token remains static, and a secret is required to prove ownership. These secrets are kept off-chain and change when ownership of a token is assigned to a new owner.
Privacy by Default is a goal of the Elixxir Platform. In your opinion, why is Privacy by Default critical for the future of the internet? It is critical cause nowadays people are loosing their privacy. All big companies and messengers provide your information to police or security companies and sell that information to big ad companies . Also hackers might get access to your personal information that might hurt. That is why people should find ways to keep their messages secure.
