What kind of improvements would you like to see in Elixxir nodes vs. previous the previous nodes you have supported? In running arbitrary nodes, the set up experience and documentation is usually the most helpful. And, clean logging so that I can get a "story" of what the node is doing.

Why do you want to be a node? Elixxir seems like it has potential to be a great technology. I have mostly a technical background, and it seems being a node operator would be a great way to start getting involved in the community. I am also very keen to learn the nitty gritty details of how the various protocols and proofs work together in Elixxir. No better way than to get hands-on!

What specifically, interests you about the Elixxir platform? The mechanism by which subsets of nodes cooperate and verify proofs! And understanding how it scales out. And it is exciting to follow the work of David Chaum.

As part of growing the Elixxir community, are you willing to create content as part of operating an Elixxir BetaNet node? What is the difference between decentralized networks and distributed networks, and where on the decentralization spectrum do you sit? Distributed systems are applications/programs that run across various processors. These architectures can give benefits for fault tolerance and scalability. A single party may own a distributed system, and therefore be responsible for all decisions it makes. Decentralized systems are those that are distributed, *and* decision making is shared among different parties, each owning their own set of processing units. I think as much decentralization as possible is a good thing, as long as there is a way for the community to agree upon rules and enforce them. In practice, there may be cases where single parties must play significant roles in decision making in the context of a decentralized application. My personal opinion is that there can certainly be a healthy balance of decentralization where particular parties have tools to let them play their role, without necessarily having *all* or *any* decision-making power centralized.
As best as you can given currently available information, please describe the value proposition of the Elixxir platform and how it differs from other current blockchain solutions. The Elixxir platform will showcase novel protocols to issue and verify private transfers of value, and also private messaging. It also offers a novel way for a distributed, decentralized network to scale. This scaling "feature" is also closely tied to the protocol.
Privacy by Default is a goal of the Elixxir Platform. In your opinion, why is Privacy by Default critical for the future of the internet? Tools and technologies are rapidly advancing that take advantage of the preposterous amounts of data an individual or groups of individuals produce. Currently, technologies and services often "leak" information which other parties can take advantage of, whether that leaking is intentional or not. This data gives 3rd parties the ability to manipulate situations. Building new technologies with a "Privacy by Default" mindset helps keep data-ownership and actions within users' reach, such that they don't leak information by default, minimizing 3rd party ability to take advantage of such uses of technology.
